KiwiRail Upgrades: Plimmerton Station
Description
The Plimmerton Station is getting an upgrade. The works involve building a new platform and shelters, constructing a third track through Plimmerton Station, realigning some of the existing track, resurfacing the existing central platform, and improving the underpass.

Metlink is working with KiwiRail on this project.
Updates
The new platform opened for express trains to Wellington from Monday 29 January 2024. New digital information screens have been installed to give customers enhanced information about their departures from Plimmerton Station.
This project work will be complete over Christmas 2023 and the new platform will be operating from 29 January 2024.
Benefits
The new platform will reduce congestion, provide greater timetable resilience and will lead to a higher frequency of services in the future.
